Custom Cutting Board Care Instructions

To keep your custom cutting board looking beautiful and lasting for years, follow these simple care tips:

1. Cleaning

  • Hand wash only with mild soap and warm water.

  • Never soak your board or put it in the dishwasher — excess moisture can cause warping or cracking.

  • After washing, immediately dry with a clean towel and stand it upright to air dry completely.

2. Sanitizing (Optional)

  • Occasionally disinfect by wiping with a mixture of white vinegar and water or lemon juice and coarse salt.

  • Rinse lightly and dry immediately.

3. Conditioning

  • Apply food-grade mineral oil or board butter (a mix of beeswax and oil) once a month, or whenever the board looks dry or dull.

  • Rub a thin, even coat over the surface and let it absorb for several hours or overnight.

  • Wipe off any excess oil with a soft cloth.

4. Usage Tips

  • Use one side for meats and the other for fruits/veggies to prevent cross-contamination.

  • Avoid cutting on engraved areas if you want to preserve the design.

  • Don’t expose your board to extreme heat or direct sunlight for long periods.

5. Storage

  • Store the board in a cool, dry place, standing on its side to allow airflow.

  • Keep away from sources of moisture and heat (like sinks or stovetops).
